MP Rehearsal Adjustments et al

So... out of an abundance of caution...

One of you who was there Thursday has messaged me and confirmed that they have been confirmed for Covid.

SO... to play it safe, we are going to adjust tonight's rehearsal as far as being there in person. I will set up a zoom meeting and everyone will be required to attend. This could be an okay thing because it will allow us to finish the character analysis and we can all work on accessing the shiny new (licensed from MTI) tracks for the show and go from there.

A few other things:

Part of your character analysis should include what you do for a living and if it involves sales of items, let's figure that out together. Tonight.

Saturdays are work calls and time to fix things more specifically. Not necessarily a full day of anything in particular; although, when Sabine returns, you may need to use this time to iron out choreography.

These next few weeks of June will mostly be about filling in gaps and making things make more sense in a linear/chronological way. Starting in July really needs to be about us working on stage, running the show until it's polished.

Aside from extenuating circumstances, illnesses, and pre-authorized absences, there is no reason to miss rehearsals. You also need to be prepared to stay the whole time. We also need to start at 7:00 pm and end at 9:30 pm until we get to the full show runs because we want to make sure we aren't rushing through. I do not anticipate needing to stay later than 10:30 pm once we get to the later rehearsals.

Please try and ensure that everyone in the show is on BAND. After today I won't send multiple announcements out. It's too much to keep up with.

The Zoom Information is at the end of the email:

MP Update 6/8/2022

Before I sign off to go to Ohio for a wedding, a few things.

At this point, it looks like Thursday may still be a go if everyone feels well.

Saturday will be Supercal, led by Memorie from 10:30 until 12:30, then break, then music for the rest of the day.
Note: In ProductionPro (in the production guide booklet), they have the letters for Supercal as a visual aid.

These *may* be the last two Boot Camp-style music rehearsals (though we reserve the right to have more if you're still struggling with something). Choreo may still need a Saturday or two.

Next week we start putting it together. Monday we will slowly walk through (roughly halfway, we will probably stop just before "Precision and Order"/the bank scene) of Act One in an attempt to piece it together, and then, if time allows, we will run it again non-stop. Twice, even, if we can. This should include all songs and known choreo.

Tuesday is the Guild meeting. You are all welcome to come. Join the guild if you like. It doesn't cost a lot individually but it's super inexpensive to join as a family. You can then have a voice in where we go in the future, especially what future seasons look like.

Thursday we will do the second half of Act One in the same way. The goal is to leave knowing exactly what happens in each section.

That Saturday will be a work call and a make-up day for things that need to be fixed or taught.

The following Monday we will run all of Act One. If this goes well, we can potentially either spend the rest of the night on choreo or music or… leave early. After that, we treat Act Two the same way and when we are through with that, we start the Act runs.

Moving forward, you should notate anything you need like props, costumes, and/or more work on anything, in particular, that will aid in making you successful in the show, by speaking to AND sending a note to me. I need a way to track the progress of something and I may not always have a way to write it down. If I see something I will also notate it as well.

I would like to mark July 1 as the date that all technical elements are due. Sets, costumes, props, etc.

July 5 will be the last day scripts are allowed onstage, though most of you are already fully memorized, right? :)

Okay. Have a great rest of the week and just so I know you've read all of this…

Riddle me this: The Banks' lived on Cherry Tree Lane. What was their house number?

Re: MP Rehearsal canceled, but please read.

Thanks for the update! Maybe I will be able to be part of the second character study meeting.

Hiya Poppins Peeps… since so many have been sick lately and with Haley's fever, hey we can't control the weather or whether or not we get sick, we are calling tonight's rehearsal. Stay home. Recoup. Go over your available materials.

Right now, plan on being there Thursday and Saturday, though. We will plan a time soon to finish the character studies.

Speaking of: thank you for your hard work on those and for the feedback, insight, and comments. Great job being an active listener and responder. I think that this was invaluable. Those who haven't gone, I'm looking forward to hearing what you have to say.

Character Study/Discussion

Everyone is required.

I mentioned early on that you all needed a character to "be" (and in some cases, characters) and in order to really know your characters, you need to do some research. So… Monday we will discuss your characters. This includes folks who have characters with names already. It is always very important to know the show you're working on and especially know your character(s) inside and out. So… please be ready to talk about your character on Monday.

OZ/Pizza Once we are finished with Character Study/Discussion, we will go over to OZ to have pizza (or anything else you'd like) and get to know one another better.

Tuesday, June 7, 2022:

Music (to include any songs in which you may have dialogue)

Everyone is required.

Thursday, June 9, 2022:

Music (to include any songs in which you may have dialogue)

Everyone is required.

Some other notes/things to think about, etc...

  • Kara is going to be the messenger after "Step in Time," and Elias is going to be the doorman in the final bank scene. These folks are going to rock these roles.

  • It is summer and lots of things happen during the summer and I feel like we have been very fair about giving you ample time off. We are now moving into a three day rehearsal schedule because we are getting closer to performances and we really need this. I will let you know that you all have impressed me in that you have very apparently been working outside of rehearsal as well as at rehearsal and that does a director's heart good.

  • That said, while I can't make you show up, if you miss rehearsal, you are basically dishonoring your fellow actors, your staff, your directors, the show, the theatre, and yourself. It is really hard to do choreography, to sing, to act, if the ones you are working with aren't there. It doesn't help to have someone stand in because their energy and actions are not the same as the person initially assigned to perform the part and they need to be elsewhere learning their own parts. So, going forward, please do not ask for more time off. The dates that are on the calendar can't be helped and we are happy to honor those dates because you let us know in advance, but you really need to be there.

  • Now, I want to take a moment to thank those of you who are filling in for others while they aren't there. You are very much appreciated.

  • Lastly, you are all so very amazing and talented and I am so honored to be directing you in this HUGE show. You may not realize, but this show is quite momentous and when we successfully pull this off at the end of July, folks are going to talk about this show for years to come. And rightfully so. Each and every one of you are appreciated, though you may not feel like it, trust me, I couldn't do this without you. Please continue on this upward momentum and let's give STG the best show they've ever seen! It's possible, it's realistic, and YOU can do it!

Thank you all!

Everyone needs to submit their Actor Bios soon.

It's been on the website this whole time and only one person has responded.

Every actor needs to complete one bio. All the pertinent information relating to what a bio is and such… is on the form.

The link (so you can bypass the website): bit.ly/MPBios

Please do not "reply to all" or else your message will appear on the website. :)
